Is the Republican Party the Party of the Rich?
Written by admin on June 24, 2012When asking the question “is the Republican Party the party of the rich?”, you need to be ready for a complex answer. If you are looking for a technical answer then, yes, the Republican Party does have a lot more of the upper class population than the Democratic Party tends to have. The reason for this is simple: a lot of the more affluent population tends to be fiscally conservative, meaning that they are going to side with the party of lower taxes and most fiscal freedom.
With all of this said, it is unfair to label the Republican Party as just a bunch of rich people looking to make more money. There are plenty of middle class folks who tend to vote Republican, as fiscal conservatism is not just something that is popular among the rich of America. In addition, even those who aren’t as fiscally conservative may side with Republican candidates due to the fact that they are socially conservative as well. While it is true that a good amount of richer population of the United States votes with the Republican Party, it’s unfair just to call them the Party of the Rich, especially when you are looking at the big picture.
